Parboiled Glutinous Rice is also name sweet rice, waxy or sticky rice. Parboiled Glutinous Rice is a sort of rice which grows mostly in East Asia and South East, which has misty grains, minimum amylose content, and is particularly sticky after cooking. It is called glutinous rice in the sense of its glue-like or sticky form. While mostly called sticky rice, it makes Parboiled Glutinous Rice different from non glutinous or japonica rice. There are many cultivars of Parboiled Glutinous Rice, which are included indica, tropical japonica, and japonica strains.

Parboiled Glutinous Rice is grown in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Philippines, Northeast India, Korea, Japan, Myanmar and the China.

Parboiled Glutinous Rice is well-known from the other varieties of rice by having no amylose, and great amount of amylopectin. Like all varieties of rice, parboiled glutinous rice does not have nutritional gluten and should be safe for gluten free diets. Parboiled Glutinous Rice can be used both milled and un-milled conditions. Milled parboiled glutinous rice is white in color and fully solid.
